When clean water begins to flow in a village, it’s easy to focus on the pipes, the taps, and the fresh water filling jerry cans. But none of it happens without people on the ground. People who plan, build, teach, listen, and walk alongside communities every day.
This is a look behind the scenes with the voices from the field.
Behind every tapstand are dedicated people who make the work possible: before, during, and long after construction.
Agaba Marvin supports ACTS Uganda through Monitoring and Evaluation, ensuring projects deliver real, measurable impact.
Ritah Ayebare, also an M&E Officer, brings a deep love of data and uses numbers to tell the story of community transformation.
Racheal Ashemereire, our Sanitation and Hygiene Coordinator, works closely with families to encourage healthy behaviour change that protects lives.
Though their roles differ, they share a commitment to the communities they serve.
“What drew me into this work was a passion for community change. I’m motivated by seeing real impact and knowing that well-designed projects truly improve people’s lives.”
— Agaba Marvin
Many members of the ACTS Uganda team grew up in rural communities themselves. They understand what it means to walk long distances for water and to live without safe sanitation. That lived experience shapes how they work and how deeply they care.
For the ACTS Uganda team, 2025 was filled with unforgettable moments..
“During our endline survey in Kasangali, hearing community members describe the changes in their lives was powerful. They spoke about healthier homes and about hope.”
— Agaba Marvin
For others, the impact showed up in the data.
“At the start of the Kasangali project, most households had no latrine. By the end, more than half had latrines and nearly 95% of them were improved. Seeing that change was really powerful for me.”
— Ritah Ayebare
These are the moments you made possible.
When asked what makes them proud, the team doesn’t start with numbers. They start with people.
“There comes a time when a project is no longer ours. The community takes it up. The results live on beyond the project and the community stays changed.”
— Agaba Marvin
“I feel proud when I see households move from poor sanitation to healthier practices. Behaviour change isn’t easy, but when families adopt safer habits, it helps prevent disease and save lives.”
— Racheal Ashemereire
Your support doesn’t just build water systems.
It builds confidence.
It builds leadership.
It builds hope.
The impact you see comes with challenges most people never witness.
“Unfavourable weather and difficult terrain are constant challenges. But we remain resilient because the communities we serve face these realities every day.”
— Ritah Ayebare
Still, the team keeps going because they believe clean water and sanitation are worth the effort.
And because you believe it too.
When the team looks to the future, their answers are full of hope.
“I’m excited about the new communities we’ll meet, the friendships we’ll build while seeing people experience clean water for the first time.”
— Agaba Marvin
“I look forward to working in new areas and seeing more communities transformed through improved sanitation and hygiene.”
— Racheal Ashemereire
Because of you, the work continues.
If you could visit a project site, the team knows exactly what they’d want you to experience.
“I wish donors could hear the stories - past and present - and see how access to water has changed family life. Shorter walks have brought harmony, and communities are moving forward.”
— Agaba Marvin
“I would want donors to feel the joy on the day water is commissioned and the sense of safety that comes from knowing the water is clean.”
— Ritah Ayebare

Every tapstand.
Every hygiene lesson.
Every step forward.
It all begins with you.
Thank you for standing with the ACTS Uganda team and for helping bring clean water, dignity, and hope to the communities who need it most.
